Field notes
Same X13DEM platform as the 1U; the 2U adds full-height slots and room for double-wide GPUs with the right PSUs. Hybrid bays require the matching NVMe cable kit or the drives simply do not show. Firmware via BMC web UI or SUM, with the OOB license for BIOS. Supported on ESXi 8, Windows Server 2022 and RHEL 9.

Frequently asked questions
Why choose Supermicro over Dell or Lenovo?
Price per performance, unusual form factors (GPU, storage-dense, multi-node, edge) and flexibility. The trade-off is less hand-holding from the vendor, which is where we come in.
Do Supermicro servers have remote management?
Yes. Every server-class board has a BMC with IPMI, Redfish and a web console; X13/H13 use the ASPEED AST2600 with HTML5 KVM. A licence key may be needed for BIOS updates via the BMC on older boards.
Can the SuperServer SYS-221H-TNR run a current operating system?
Check the field notes above. As a rule, current models are certified for Windows Server 2022/2025, ESXi 8 and RHEL 9; legacy models usually stop at Windows Server 2019 or ESXi 7 and may need Proxmox or an older Linux to stay useful.
