About the family
Cisco's small-business and campus access switches. The 2960-X/XR and 2960-L are widely deployed on IOS; the newer Catalyst 1200 and 1300 run a simplified IOS-XE derived OS with web management and no licence subscription; the Catalyst 1000 replaced the 2960-L.
2960-X reached end of sale; still supported in the field for a while. Catalyst 1300 is the current pick for a small office that wants Cisco without DNA licensing.
